W. Dilworth Cannon, M.D.
Professor of Clinical Orthopaedics, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, University of California, San Francisco
A nationally renowned sports medicine expert, Dr. W. Dilworth Cannon is the former Director of the UCSF Sports Medicine Service. Dr. Cannon has been involved in numerous committees through the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Arthroscopy Association of North America to enhance education opportunities in orthopedic surgery.

He received his undergraduate degree from Yale University and his medical training from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He completed an internship and surgical residency at St. Vincent's Hospital in New York before serving as a research associate at the National Institutes of Health. He then completed his orthopedic residency at New York Orthopedic Hospital before joining UCSF in 1972.

Dr. Cannon is a past president of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and he is co-editor of the Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Review Journal. He is an active member of many organizations, and serves on the editorial boards of a number of major publications.

Dennis Crawford, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Crawford specializes in out-patient, minimally invasive and arthroscopic treatment for knee and shoulder conditions. His clinical and research interests include cartilage and ligament injury repair and restoration technology as well as peri-operative regional anesthesia and pain control. Dr. Crawford completed Orthopedic Resident training at Brown University Medical School after receiving a combined M.D., Ph.D. degree from Boston University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Crawford completed two years of subspecialty Fellowship training in both Trauma Orthopedics (Brown) and Sports Medicine (University of California San Francisco Medical Center). He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, International Cartilage Repair Society and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Hollis Potter, M.D.

Dr. Hollis Potter is a Board-Certified Radiologist specializing in Musculoskeletal MRI since 1990. She has published 98 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 41 book chapters. Dr. Potter has presented and been invited to speak locally, nationally, and internationally at orthopaedic and radiologic scientific meetings. She is funded for MR research in both clinical and basic science projects. Dr. Potter is nationally and internationally recognized for her expertise in developing MR applications for orthopaedic conditions.

Dr. Potter received her undergraduate degree from Smith College and her medical degree from New York Medical College. She completed her residency, including serving as Chief Resident, at North Shore University Hospital, and a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

R. Lane Smith, Ph.D.
Professor (Research), Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, California
Dr. Smith’s work is at the forefront of research in the molecular, cellular and developmental biology of bone, cartilage, and connective tissue. In his research, Dr. Smith studies osteoarthritis, treatment of joint damage and disease, and cartilage repair and regeneration. He is co-inventor of the methodology for exogenous cartilage development licensed to Histogenics by Stanford University.

Riley J. Williams III, M.D.

Director of the Institute for Cartilage Repair, Hospital for Special Surgery
Dr. Williams is a specialist in the field of shoulder, knee and elbow surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery. He holds a dual appointment in both the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, as a full-time member of the Sports Medicine & Shoulder Service, and as a Clinician-Scientist in the Research Division.

He is the Head Team Physician for the Nets professional basketball team and the Iona College Department of Athletics, and Medical Director of the New York Red Bulls professional soccer team. He has also served as Associate Team Physician for the New York Mets professional baseball team.

He received his B.S from Yale University and his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine. Among his numerous awards are the 2005 Aircast Award for Clinical Science from the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.

A member of many professional organizations, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.
